When it comes to planning any vacation, the logistics can be overwhelming, to say the least. But when it comes to your Turks and Caicos vacation, planning doesn’t have to be a daunting process—as long as you’re prepared. And that’s where we come in to ensure you have a simple, smooth transition into the vacation lifestyle.
Whether it’s remembering to pack all the necessities or making a list of each and every restaurant you’re dying to try, there is never such a thing as being too prepared for a trip to Turks and Caicos. To help guide you along, here are Blue Heron Vacations’ top travel tips to give you peace of mind at every single turn.
While our island is well-equipped with several full-service grocery stores, pharmacies, and duty-free shops, it’s best to feel as if you have arrived with everything you need. That includes sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat for a day on the beach or a stroll around the shops. In the evenings, have your bug repellent ready, since even the mosquitoes are not immune to the allure of our island—or your ankles. You may also want to bring copies of any important documents you might need.
In terms of grocery shopping, the grocery stores on Providenciales accept all major credit cards—and Blue Heron provides grocery pre-stocking services if you’d prefer a full fridge when you arrive at your villa. Interested in private chef services? We can also assist with booking the right chef for you and your family.
Before you arrive, it’s best to plan for your days ahead. Some of our properties are located a bit off the beaten path and, if you hope to explore beyond your front steps, ensuring you have reserved a rental car is wise. You might hope to go beyond the beaches for a day of scuba diving or deep sea fishing, so make sure you have researched all your options and made appropriate reservations.
Our properties are all equipped with internet access, so even though you maywant to disconnect from the real world, it’s best to bring your chargers and devices along just in case. And fortunately, we have the same electrical outlets in Turks and Caicos as those in the U.S. and Canada.
You may also want to contact your cell phone provider before you arrive: most offer affordable, unlimited plans that will help you to stay in touch while away, as often or as infrequently as suits you. To help you stay in touch with our team and make local reservations, we also provide our guests with local cell phones.
Our island has restaurants that specialize in practically every cuisine, from local fare to fine dining. While you might choose to take advantage of our private chef options, if you choose to explore our island restaurants, prepare a list of those you hope to visit most and call ahead to make reservations.
The Turks and Caicos is one of the safest destinations in the Caribbean, but it’s still important to take basic precautions while traveling to ensure your safety. As such, It’s best to lock your doors at night and avoid remote, secluded areas after dark. And as any seasoned traveler will tell you, leave those most valued treasures at home. You’ll feel safest and most at ease with less to worry about. And if you’re staying on Chalk Sound, there’s also a police station at the only entrance to the peninsula for an added layer of security.
Meanwhile, all of our Blue Heron rental properties are not only gated, but also equipped with 24/7 security monitoring.
Planning any vacation can seem overwhelming, but with the right resources and information, you will arrive on our sandy shores ready to unplug—both literally and figuratively. A prepared traveler is a happy one, but rest assured, if you do forget anything the Blue Heron team will be here to help with whatever you need.
